SERIES / STRIPPED

My work is inspired by the parallel between nature and the human form. The focus of this series is not only to demonstrate the beauty of the subjects, but to showcase the human form as an extension of nature itself. I chose to work with bare wood for my series to demonstrate how we as humans each have a unique set of features that set us apart aesthetically from each other, just as each tree has a unique and intricate pattern within its rings and knot holes that makes it different from any other. The theme of this series is further reflected within my style of painting. These portraits are delicate and incorporate color in a subtle manner. This creates a soft aesthetic that allows the viewer to see the subject and the background as a whole.
